I blame the lack of blogging on my busyness, but in reality, i think it comes down to having things to say that i dont want to say, in addition to not wanting to attempt fall break. but i will. ...not now though.
School the next month should be tough but not duke tough. to be honest, right now my brain isnt in school mode and needs to get there. at least i did well on midterms.
Also, im not really sure where my head is. maybe some where between london, duke, the lake, and st. augustine.
we did dublin and london this weekend. it didnt really go according to plan really... except maybe friday. but just a few things:
-i loved dublin. not only does a lot of my favorite music come from ireland (and england), the culture that i had created in my mind from that music, is exactly what dublin was like.
-we went to the national museum and saw bodies completely preserved from the peat bogs of ireland. like hair and all. it was terrifying. and intense.....viking stuff was cool too.
-we saw trinity college which was adorable and had a gorgeous library with the Book of Kells in it... but i actually loved seeing foxes' Book of Martyrs.... a document i spend a ton of time in online writing a paper for tudor/stuart britain... which was cool to see in real life.
-i registered for classes and got what i thought i wouldnt and didnt get what i thought i would
-we went to the Guinness storehouse museum and the Jameson distillery and both were extremely interesting and a blast. at the Jameson distillery we took a tour and were the only two girls... among the entire south african national rugby team. we're talking huge men. we're talking a hilarious, awesome tour.
-i loved the environment of dublin. it was quaint, adorable, old awesome.
-... i did not like our hostel, to say the least.
-it was Guy Fawkes day the day before we got to london. this is cool because we talked about him a ton in tudor/stuart britain too. he's the guy who tried to blow up parliament and bring back Catholicism (see v for vendetta) and almost succeeded. today... londoners have fireworks and burn and effigy of him. haha.
-london... did not go according to plan.
-we saw When We Are Married at the Garrick and it was great. the style was a lot like London Assurance, british talk and all. and it was written by JB Priestley... who i think is a genius. anyway, it was a great play we had a great time
-instead of talking about the downsides ill tell you what i did like about my day in london: staying up last night watching snowboard videos and fight club with a couple guys and one of the managers of the hostel, being so close to russell square and every amazing memory i have of london (missing the gallon boys hardcore right now), seeing the changing of the Queen's horse guards, see the exhibit at the globe and knowing everything about it, taking a boat ride out of the center of the city to greenwich, seeing the national maritime museum, the old royal navy college, part of the greenwich palace, seeing a complete double rainbow (ballah), taking another boat ride back up the thames, visiting LSE (main student center and the main library, so cool), hanging out in covent garden, ben's cookies, wagamama, eat, and pret.
tomorrow we have to leave london at 5:30 in the morning... bad calllllllll but ill be back in time for school, agh.
i was extremely homesick this weekend. peoplesick.
ive been featured on rollinglobe again, for those who havent seen it "Gourmet Panini on the Go"
-i have no money.
-im really excited for the cruise.
-i have a ton of reading to do.
-i think ive been traveling too much. my heart is heavy.
